AGVB/AG16

The legendary AG16 range of oil insulated switchgear was developed in the seventies and thousands of these panels still function and operate in our distribution networks. ACTOM MV Switchgear is the OEM for the AGVB range of vacuum circuit breakers. The AGVB breakers have been developed as direct replacement for the PDB type oil breakers. The circuit breaker has been carefully designed, manufactured and tested to ensure reliable operation throughout its life and complies with the requirements of IEC 60056. ACTOM also manufactures an AGVB single busbar housing that complies with IEC 60298 to compliment the AGVB circuit breaker.

Through our international partnership with Reyrolle Pacific Switchgear (RPSS), based in New Zealand, ACTOM MV Switchgear is able to offer retrofit vacuum circuit breaker and panel enhancement solutions for the legacy Reyrolle LMS/LMT/LMR oil and SF6 range of breakers.

 The replacement of the oil or SF6 circuit breakers with the RPSS LMVP vacuum unit is obviously the most significant improvement in operator safety. However, there are other  type tested safety enhancements  that we offer for existing LM switchboards to improve safety of the old switchgear fixed portions with regards to internal arc performance.

  • Rated voltage up to 12kV
  • 800A, 1250A, 1600A and 2000A ratings

SBV Range of Switchgear

ACTOM MV Switchgear is the leading local manufacturer of medium voltage indoor switchgear which complies with local and international standards. With an install base of over 60 000 panels worldwide, ACTOM MV Switchgear is truly a leader in this field.

Our locally produced SBV range of floor rolling panels are available in both single and double busbar configurations. All our products offer vacuum interrupting technology and are compliant and type tested to IEC 60298 and IEC60056 specifications. The SBV range is the predecessor to the SBVE range of panels, which is compliant to the latest IEC standards.  Given the large installed base, all panels in this range are still available for manufacture.

Screened CT & VT Solutions

ACTOM Current Electric is the leading manufacturer of LV and MV current and voltage transformers.  In polluted environments traditional CT’s and VT’s are susceptible to damage caused by high leakage currents across the insulating surfaces.   CT’s and VT’s that are suitable for operating in harsh environments have been developed by ACTOM Current Electric.

EPOXY SCREENED PRIMARY RING BAR BASE CT

The epoxy screened primary bar ring bar base CT was developed as a retrofit for the traditional ACTOM or Current Electric PVC type ring bar base CT’s in environments where poor performance has occurred due to severe environmental conditions.  The screened CT has been subjected to a type test in accordance with the requirements of IEC 62271-304 Classification of indoor enclosed switchgear related to the use in severe service conditions.

EPOXY SCREENED DIN TYPE CT’s & VT’s

The epoxy screened DIN type CT’s and VT’s are used where Type C and Type A interfaces are required to facilitate primary connections using screened separable connectors.  The CT’s and VT’s are fully insulated and screened with an earthed outer layer making them impervious to the effects of pollution and moisture.

Ottermill LV Retrofits

ACTOM MV Switchgear has developed and type tested a retro-fit solution for the Ottermill Switchgear OMA type of low-voltage air-circuit breakers.  The retro-fit has been specifically designed as a direct replacement unit for the original withdrawable-pattern Ottermill circuit breaker. The fact that the retro-fit is withdrawable means that downtime is minimised when doing an Ottermill replacement.   The heart of the retro-fit is the Schneider Masterpact NW32 switch-disconnector (SD) / circuit breaker (CB).  The retro-fit can be offered with off-board protection or on-board protection using the Micrologic control unit that is integral to the NW32.  The indication and control circuitry of the NW32 is wired to auxiliary contact pins and can be customised to suit the protection and control requirements of the existing scheme on site.  The ACTOM retro-fit has been carefully designed, manufactured and tested to ensure reliable operation throughout its life and complies with the requirements of IEC 61439-2.  The retro-fit solution is supplied in kit form and consists of the following parts:

  • Withdrawable CB or SD complete with front cover, mechanical interlocks and cluster contacts.
  • Ventilation cover plates (i.e. to be fitted to the existing housing assembly in order to achieve the maximum current rating).
  • Side covers (i.e. to be fitted to the existing housing assembly in order to achieve the IP code).
  • Indication guide plate (i.e. to be fitted to the existing housing assembly in order to provide the correct interface to the withdrawable part).

STV Contactor Retrofits

ACTOM provides an upgrade solution for the 7.2 kV GEC STV vacuum contactor fixed-pattern switchgear.  The upgrade is based on the premise that the STV units have generally given many years of reliable service so its strengths have been retained and where weaknesses in the design have been identified these have been addressed.  The solution offered by ACTOM addresses the following issues experienced by Users of this type of switchgear:

  • end of life of contactors;
  • fuse replacements;
  • electrical failure of unscreened primary circuit cables;
  • mechanical failure of unsupported control cables resulting in internal arc faults due to encroachment of electrical clearances;
  • voltage transformer failures; and
  • catastrophic failure of panels (i.e. door being blown open/off) due to internal arc faults.

The solution consists of the replacement and installation of the following components:

  • GEC contactor with a Schneider CBX mechanically latched contactor;
  • MV fuses with the COOPER Bussmann (i.e. EATON) WFMH7 or WKMH7 type;
  • control cables fitted into plastic routing ducts;
  • pressure relief flap;
  • internal arc tested door;
  • ACTOM Current Electric type 2388 phase-to-phase connected voltage transformer (VT);
  • primary circuit cables with NEXANS SIWO-KUL D30 13.8/15 kV cable; and
  • PVC-U insulating barriers.
